The Scientific and European classes went on a trip to Paris and Brussels during five days. The main goal of this trip was to learn about the roles of the European Union and also about the topics of immigration and colonization worldwide.
On the first day, when we arrived in Paris, we visited the Drancy museum which explains how the concentration camps worked and we met an former prisoner who told us about his experience in Drancy.
Then, on the next day, we went to the International Center of Immigration which taught us the causes and the consequences of immigrations around the world. In the afternoon, our teachers intended to show us primitive pieces of art from five continents in the famous museum of Quai Branly which denounces colonization.
Then, we headed towards Brussels on Tuesday night to discover the royal museum of Central Africa, which is a museum a little bit like Quai Branly. Both museums allowed us to understand the process of colonization and decolonization.
In the afternoon, our teachers allowed us to visit the city center of Brussels before visiting the scientific museum which was a funny experience !
In the context of the European Union, on Thursday, we visited the European Parliament which was a great experience for us. We attended a parliamentary session. Now we know a little bit more about the European Union which is something very important to understand.
On the last afternoon, we visited the ancient wealthy neighbourhoods of Brussels which were really beautiful. In the evening, our teachers showed us a very big beer-pub called “Delirium” which serves more than 2,000 different beers !
On the last day we came back home by bus.
This trip to Paris and Brussels was something very interesting in particular on a cultural level as we have discovered many things. We all shared a wonderful and enriching experience.
